"It is my hope that one day no one
will need a copy of my book
because we will have found a cure
for Alzheimer's.  Until that day, my hope is that through my book and speaking engagements, I can raise awareness, remove the stigma that
surrounds this disease, and support those who are on a journey with a loved one and Alzheimer's."

Alzheimer's is a slow, progressive, terminal disease of the brain.
Every seven seconds someone in the world is diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
No one is immune to Alzheimer's.
Alzheimer's has impacted two generations of my family.

Our family's journey with Alzheimer's began in the 1970's when my grandmother,  Catherine Wytak Sahaydak was diagnosed with "hardening of the arteries in her brain".  My mother cared for my grandmother for many years.

After my grandmother's death, my mother prayed no one she knew
or loved would ever fall prey to the disease.  In 2001, my mother's biggest fear became her reality when she, too, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

My father cared for my mother ~ as he always promised he would. As the disease progressed, I was honored to help my father care for my mother until her death in December 2007.

After my mother passed, I interviewed over 100 sons, daughters, grandchildren
and professionals who had cared for a loved one with Alzheimer's for my book,
I LOVE YOU...WHO ARE YOU? Loving & Caring for a Parent with Alzheimer's
.  It is a guidebook for anyone on a journey with a loved one with Alzheimer's - from initial diagnosis to the end of the journey.  I wrote the book
I wish I'd had while I was caring for my mother.

May we all, one day, know a world free of Alzheimer's.
